Our oceans face a massive and growing threat from plastics we use everyday. Monstrous amounts of about 17.6 billion pounds of plastic seeps into the marine environment from land-based sources every year. Tens of thousands of individual marine organisms have been observed suffering from entanglement or ingestion of plastics permeating the marine environment. Its not only the ocean that get affected, plastic never goes away instead they break down and where it gets picked up by other organisms making there way in to our food, the air, and water. only 9 percent of all plastic waste generated has been recycled. Recycling alone is not enough to solve the plastics crisis. To have an impact, we must reduce the amount of single-use plastic being produced at the source. campaign will urge companies and individuals to adopt alternatives for single-use plastics.
